Annie is a pug</div> <div> rescuer and had been at a Kansas City shelter to pick up a pug. While there</div> <div> she saw a puppy in a cage and asked the vet what happened to it. The vet</div> <div> replied that it had come in as a stray and had been doused with lighter</div> <div> fluid and set on fire. Annie inquired as to what breed it was. The vet</div> <div> replied "a four month old basset pup, but no one will come to reclaim it I'm</div> <div> sure." Annie informed the vet that she knew just the person to come get that</div> <div> puppy.</div> <div> Andy pup had to be kept until Saturday April 14 because he came in as a stray.</div> <div> I picked him up Saturday a.m. I was not prepared for how bad he looked. But</div> <div> mostly I was not prepared for the animated nature of this pup. I expected</div> <div> him to be depressed and withdrawn. But upon placing him in his puppy</div> <div> playpen - I realized that mostly what I had was a very playful 4 month old</div> <div> basset. He is a happy, active baby boy. Andy is a little short on ears and a</div> <div> little long on legs but basset none the less.</div> <div> Andy is recieving medical care from one of our regular basset vets. He may</div> <div> require some reconstructive surgery as time passes and his wounds heal.
