PLEASE HELP BOWSER VERY SPECIAL FRIEND BOGIE & BACALL

One day, Bowser hear saddest news ever, from him friend Kim:

Dear Droolers, My post is not of the lighter side. Yesterday was one of the worst days of all my years in rescue. We were called on by a landlord (slumlord, if I may say so myself) because his tenants had moved away leaving 2 bassets behind. this was several months ago and the bassets have been moved from backyard to backyard only to continue starving to death. Another dog had died of starvation in one of his tenants basements.

Bob and I made the trip to pick them up yesterday afternoon. This was in a very bad (crackhouse, drive by shooting ) part of Kansas City. Just getting to the landlord's front door was not easy. Getting the boards from in front of the gate was not any easier, but getting those 2 starving creatures was worth every obstacle. One male and one female. Skin and bones. the female had a gaping wound on her one side. Of course the vet was waiting for us when we got there. Most everyone would be repulsed by these two bassets but they were so wanting of a gentle hand.

The male is approx 8 years old, neutered, a couple lumps that need removed, teeth need cleaning. The female (approx 10 years old) fared much worse. The wound is a tumor that ruptured and that the flies had been feeding on, another mass that made her look like an intact male from behind, very bad eyes and terrible upper respiratory. Surgery is out of the question in their compromised conditions so we will convalesce until we are stonger. Checkups complete - we headed home to make them comfy. and to await the HW test results.

The news was not all good. Seems our boy is negative and our girl is positive. They are now named Bogie and Bacall. And we will love and feed and make them comfy. We will send Bacall to the bridge next week. I wanted a few days with her to make sure she knew she was loved and fed and comfy before she left this world. And so it goes in the world of rescue. as ever, Kim Dunn and all the 4 leggers of the Hoof and Hound Farm in Paola, KS Mid America Basset Rescue

Make him want sit, cry, especially poor Bacall, too sick to be save.
Then Bowser mom show him picture:

Bacall

Bogie

Him think Bogie maybe need little bit hairbrush, then him remember it not so long ago HIM look like that!

Every night, Bowser say little "Now I lay me" and him always add Bogie & Bacall. Especially Bacall, she so sick and only few days left to live. Then him hear more news one day, think THIS MIRACLE!!! THIS BEST THING EVER!!!  Here what Bowser mom read him:

These two horribly treated bassets have bounced back like little troopers. They are so loving and animated. I have not sent Bacall to the bridge. Remember Bacall has 1)ruptured open tumor on her side 2)Heartworm positive 3)another tumor on her belly. It is hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago her eyes were rolling back in her head and she could bearly move. Met with the vet yesterday and our plan of action is such. On Tuesday June 13 we will do an x-ray to evaluate the progression of the heartworm and check for other tumors. If that looks ok - we will operate to remove the ruptured tumor. So we will need lots of white light and basset prayers slung our way that day.  These 2 will become poster children as such. I have 2 events in the next 2 weeks and hope to raise some much needed funds to cover their expenses. I will try to post an updated pic soon.  as ever,  kim
